We are accepting applications for home ownership
At Steuben County Habitat for Humanity, we believe that everyone deserves a safe, stable, and affordable place to call home. Our homeownership program is designed to provide a “hand up, not a handout” to individuals and families who meet our qualifications, offering affordable mortgage payments, personalized support, and the opportunity to build a better future. Future homeowners work alongside staff, volunteers, and community members to help build their own homes and those of others through “sweat equity”—volunteer hours that may include construction, homeownership classes, and credit counseling when needed. By partnering with Habitat, applicants gain more than just a house—they gain a foundation for stability, security, and hope.
Applications are now open for qualified individuals and families in Steuben County who have a demonstrated need for safe, decent, and affordable housing, fall within income guidelines, are willing to commit to sweat equity, and can make a low-interest mortgage payment. This journey is more than a real estate transaction—it’s a partnership built on community, shared goals, and mutual support. If you’re ready to take the first step toward homeownership, contact April Thompson in Family Services at (607) 936-4444 ext. 405 or athompson@habitatcorning.org. Together, we can work toward our vision: a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
