Volunteer
Much More Than Creating Housing Options
Volunteer opportunities at SESC Habitat for Humanity do much more than create housing options in our community:
- They provide great construction and leadership experiences for aspiring building professionals.
- They provide an unforgettable teambuilding experience for your corporate group or organization.
- They provide a student activity that makes a real difference, in your neighborhood and on your resume.
- They provide a chance to meet and socialize with other caring, talented people.
- They give back to the community in ways that are visible and tangible.
Most people feel that they gain much more from volunteering for SESC Habitat for Humanity than they give. Our needs range from skilled construction to administrative and fundraising support. Take a look at some of the ways you can volunteer, or contact us at 607.936.4444 or habitatcorning@clarityconnect.com.
Individual
There are numerous ways for individuals to volunteer with us:
- Construction volunteers help perform the on-site work of building Habitat homes. No experience is needed, just the desire and ability to help us build. You must be at least 18 years of age and sign a volunteer waiver.
- Construction supervisors are skilled volunteers who provide project oversight, safety monitoring, and supervision of volunteers on site.
- Administrative volunteers help us support the infrastructure behind SESC Habitat for Humanity’s housing efforts in areas such as family selection and support, liaison with church and community groups, communications, and fundraising.
Corporate Team Building
Habitat for Humanity construction projects represent a way to truly put the term “building” in “team building.” By bringing your workplace group of 10 or more people to a scheduled construction day, or providing sponsorship support to a Habitat project, you make your organization a visible part of our community while raising morale and teamwork within your employee group.
Faith and Community Groups
Our partners in the faith and civic communities can work with us at many levels including providing volunteer groups, and raising public visibility about Habitat and housing issues within the community and the pulpit.
School Groups
Opportunities for school groups range from scheduled group construction days to unforgettable field trip experiences, bringing your talents and energy to project sites in areas of need.
Youth Opportunities from Habitat International
The Youth Programs department at Habitat for Humanity International seeks to engage the imagination, energy and hope of young people, ages 5 to 25, worldwide in order to productively and responsibly involve them as leaders in the work of Habitat for Humanity. Youth Programs believes that youth are not only the future of Habitat--they are also doing amazing things today!
