Do I Qualify?

We evaluate applications on three main criteria: need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner.

 

Need

 

• You will be considered for a Habitat home if your present housing is not adequate, and you are unable to obtain adequate housing through conventional means.

• Your total family income cannot be over 56% of the Steuben County median family income using these 2011 figures. Your income should be within the following guidelines:

Ability to Pay

 

• You must demonstrate your ability to pay the monthly mortgage payment, the payment for real estate taxes, and insurance.

• We will help you to determine if this payment will jeopardize your ability to meet all your other family financial obligations and expenses.

 

Willingness to Partner

 

• As a partner family, you must complete a total of 500 hours of sweat equity.
• Maintain an on-going relationship with our Family Support Team.
• Demonstrate willingness to maintain the home and property after purchase.
